About Intercast.fm

Intercast.fm is building a platform to power the global podcast economy. We’re differentiated by our focus on engaement/interactivity between podcasters and their audiences. Our belief is engagement creates community, community creates trust, trust is the basis of economy, and vibrant moral economies beget flourishing.

We believe we’re still in the early days of podcasting - the industry is nascent. But we also believe it’ll grow into something big, far reaching, and formative... it’ll shape the way people will understand their world. We happen to be starting as a player with interactive prompts/cards, but our vision is to build the highways and byways of engagement between podcasters and their audiences. We envision deep communities where people can comment, read, learn, meet up in-person, like, share, patronize...

Others in this space focus a lot on “casting” (see logos with broadcast lines like Spotify) or on”pod” (see the use of “p’s” or “playback buttons”). Our competition is focused on the medium. That’s not our focus.

Our focus is on human-to-human connection. Our focus is on the creative and sustaining energy of engagement: human to human AND human to idea. Our focus is on the how that engagement is the fertilizer for growth like a tree - roots that go down and trunks that go up. At Intercast, people should feel like there’s both possibility and progress. It’s a cycle of “dream” and “do.” I believe podcasts already do this. I believe most people under the age of 40 can point to a podcast episode that changed their mind about something, helped them through a hard time, set them down a path, gave them the confidence they needed, or nourished their imagination. Unbelievably, there aren’t feedback tools in-place for podcasters or fellow listeners to know this is happening on the scale that it’s happening and the community isn’t getting lift as a result. Intercast will solve that problem.

In summary, this is a project that’s all about engagement, community, trust, economy, and personal or professional growth. It’s about unlocking the potential of podcasts and unleashing their creative energies. It’s about inspiration, aspiration, and realization.
